Azimuth Post Production has opened for business in the heart of Soho.
Azimuth is part of a well-established Middle-Eastern owned media group that includes London-based production company ORTV International. Azimuth has been set up as a stand-alone facility with the high standards of customer service necessary to attract clients in the competitive Soho area.
Former UK Screen Association board member Neil Hatton has been appointed as Director of Post Production. He comments, “The name Azimuth means ‘direction’, usually towards a star as in our logo, but is actually a word borrowed into English from Arabic where it means ‘the way’. It therefore echoes our aim to help clients pick the right route through the complex workflows necessary for HD and file-based production.”
Azimuth intends to concentrate on the finishing end of post production across a broad range of genres. Hatton added, “With more production companies owning their own offline kit, we are offering them the high-value services that they will find difficult to provide in-house, such as grading, fx and audio.”
Initial key appointments include dubbing mixers Ken Williams and Luke Hatfield, formerly of Frontier Post and Beach74, and bookings manager Liz Rippin, who joins from The Sanctuary.
Current work includes a slate of work for Al Arabiya including a one-off investigation into jihad in Morocco titled Cyberkillers, and a three-part series featuring unprecedented access to King Abdullah II of Jordan. Other current clients include the BBC and Al Jazeera English. The audio department has recently completed the recording and editing of technical manuals in 26 languages for Xerox as well as the mixing of commercials for Capcom’s MotoGP video game produced by Deuce.
