Neil Hatton has worked in television for more than 30 years. He joined the BBC in 1979 spending 7 years in VT at Television Centre and then 5 years as senior editor at facility company Lynx Video.

In 1992, he recognised the potential of non-linear editing and was the first person to cut a documentary in the UK on a Lightworks. In June of that year, he founded Frontier Post, which over 15 years went from an offline boutique to a full service post-production facility.

In 2004, he played a large role in the formation of the film & TV facilities trade body, The UK Screen Association and was elected to its board of directors for four consecutive years. He also chaired its broadcast post-production working group and was responsible for many of the Association’s formal responses to the BBC, OFCOM and government. In 2012, he was re-elected to the UK Screen Association board after a 4 year gap and is chair of its technology working group.

Neil has campaigned for better and more relevant vocational training provision within the industry and higher education. He drafted much of the technical curriculum for the "First Post” scheme which has trained more than 100 new entrants to the industry right across the UK. He is a member of the Skillset Facilities Council, which advises the sector skills council for the audio visual industries on training needs within TV facilities.

He has been a member of several judging panels including the IVCA Awards and the Grierson British Documentary Awards.

In 2008, he was appointed as CEO at Azimuth Post Production with the aim of bringing his wealth of industry experience to the creation of a new full-service post-production facility in the heart of Soho.
